Our Distinction

The University of Energy Health Sciences  (U.E.H.S.) (affiliated with the Institute of Energy Wellness Studies) offers a distinct aromatic program unlike many others in North America. Most, or perhaps all, of the aromatic schools in North America are based on the British system of applying essential oils. This has become the world standard for use in Aromatherapy. It primarily teaches the use of essential oils through massage or topical uses only. The British system also teaches the importance of diluting oils with a carrier oil.

Instead, U.E.H.S. primarily teaches the French system. This includes two major procedures unlike the British system:

1. The oral ingestion of essential oils for various health concerns, and
2. The direct topical use of essentials oils (neat application) without a carrier oil. Obviously this can only be achieved with organic, authentic, therapeutic-grade AFNOR* standard essential oils.
3. U.E.H.S. has chosen a top quality company with impeccable standards in order to adhere to the internal and neat application of essential oils.

Upon careful sourcing and research of the essential oils available on the market today (and there are many companies with a few that offer great oils) the Director & staff settled on the one company that best met the full range of criteria for the purest, clean, bio-dynamic essential oils: namely,

• spring-fed or mountain water fed crops, 

• including owning their own farms-using Eco-sustainable methods,

• heirloom or original organic seeds,

*AFNOR - U.E.H.S. has chosen oils that meet the international standards for therapeutic-grade essential oils. There are generally two standards that are recognized at a world level and referred to most often. They are ISO (International Standards Organization) and AFNOR (Association French Normalization Organization Regulation) standards.

The AFNOR standards state the percentages of certain chemical constituents that must be present for an essential oil to be considered therapeutic grade. In order to gain the AFNOR stamp of approval, the oils must be tested by the French laboratories. A third standard considered to be the "gold standard" now for essential oils is the EC (European Community) standard.
